"Peace. It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart." ~ UnknownPrenatal and Postnatal MassageMassage is beneficial for most everyone, especially pregnant and new mothers. Pregnancy and birth test the body's abilities and resources, and proper support can make a huge difference in comfort level and well-being. It's no secret that happier mothers make for happier babies. Prenatal massage should be cleared by your midwife or doctor. It is usually done with the mother in sidelying position after the 1st trimester, bolstered by pillows and blankets where needed. Sore/tight areas are gently addressed. Postnatal massage is usually done after the lochia has stopped. Massage can help the mother's body adjust to the newly non-pregnant state and soothe those sore shoulder and arms from hours of baby care and breastfeeding.
